Lynnfield veterinarian’s burial postponed

LYNNFIELD – Today’s scheduled funeral for Lynnfield veterinarian Joan Baruffaldi has been postponed until Monday, according to family members.Baruffaldi, 45, died during an early-November trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her husband, Robert Harris, said she committed suicide by hanging herself with a bathrobe sash from the shower curtain rod in their Westin hotel room.The Baruffaldi family has accused Harris of murder. A civil case has been argued in Superior Court where the Baruffaldis successfully thwarted Harris’ attempt to have his wife’s body cremated, fearing it would destroy potential evidence.Since then, three autopsies have been conducted but the results were not returned to the family, the deceased’s brother, Larry Baruffaldi of Malden, said earlier this week.The George L. Doherty Funeral Home in Somerville is handling the arrangements. Baruffaldi will be buried in a Lynnfield cemetery.
