Girls hoop: Jenkins the difference as Classical survives Revere

Morgan Jenkins had another big outing for the Revere High girls basketball team in a 47-40 win over Classical Friday at Classical.Jenkins scored 19 points, pulled down 20 rebounds and killed the Rams from the line with nine free throws. Diamond Doe carried the load for Classical with 25 points. The Rams, who led by six at the half, were without their other big gun, Hannah Byrne, who was resting an injury.”Classical’s a tough opponent,” Revere coach Diana DeCristoforo said. “We were glad to be able to break their pressure ? overall it was a good defensive team effort for us.”Classical is 11-8 and Revere is 15-4.Peabody 78, Beverly 43At Peabody, everyone and her sister got into the scoring act for the Tanners (16-1, 14-1 Northeastern Conference). Peabody had 12 players put points on the board led by freshman Hayley Dowd (15 points) and Janelle Rodriguez (10 points. Brittany Lefave, Julia Kayal and Carissa Milley each had eight points and Kerrie O’Shea, nine.Tech 52, Chelsea 43At Chelsea, the Tigers lost their first eight games but managed to finish the season a very respectable 7-13 thanks to strong finish. Jenna Kulakowski scored a game-high 21 points, 19 of them in the second half. Fanice Jean-Baptiste was good for 14 points.Gloucester 61, Winthrop 32At Gloucester, the Fishermen cranked up the defense in the third quarter and managed to outscore the Vikings 24-4 to put the game away. Audrey Knowlton had 21 points and Heather Cain, 14. Gloucester is 11-6.English 57, Salem 50At Salem, Jenicia Duggins was a force for the Bulldogs (16-3, 14-1 NEC). She finished with a game-high 36 points, while pulling down 11 rebounds. Olivia Dupree had a strong night on the boards. She pulled down 12 rebounds to go with her two points.Amanda Wilkins finished with 21 points to lead the Witches. Maria Rodriguez also finished in double figures with 15 points.Marblehead 55, Saugus 47At Saugus, the Sachems (2-18) had four players finish in double figures: Allyssa Furtado (12), Gabby Cogliano (11), Jacki Strangie (10) and Jill Kotowski (10). Cogliano also ripped down 12 rebounds, while Furtado pulled down nine.
