St. John’s swimming team came in first in the Division1 Boys Meet on Saturday. The Eagles outscored the second place team by 87 points.The Prep had three first-place finishing relay’s: Aaron Athanas, Ryan Fortin, Ethan Brosnan and John Bateman, 200 Medley (1:38.75); Bateman, Robert Breen, Fortin and Brian Brennan, 200 freestyle (1:29.07). Fortin had a particularly fruitful day, as he also finished with a first in 200 Individual Medley (1:56.15) and second in the 100 breaststroke (59.18).The Eagles had six other top-five performances: Bateman, third, 50 free (22.26), Athanas, third, 100 backstroke (54.0); Brennan, fifth, 200 free (1:46.93); Breen, fifth, 50 free (22.47) and 100 free (49.12).Classical’s Tom Shumann placed 13th in the diving competition (223.10)In Division 2, Jeff Cook had a pair of top-10 performances to lead Lynnfield: second, 200 free (1:46.54); and fifth, 100 free (49.04).Danvers’ Graham Beck also had a pair of top-10 performances: sixth, 100 breaststroke (1:02.45); and 10th, 200 free (2:04.33)James Black finished in sixth place for Fenwick in the 100 backstroke (56.46)GIRLS SWIMMINGKatelyn Kidney had a sensational performance for Classical’s swimming team in the Girls Division 1 Meet. She placed in second in the 200 free (1:57.92) and fourth in the 500 free (5:18.4).Marblehead placed third in the Division 2 Meet. Sara Dahar, Toiresa Rafferty-Millet, Katherine Foley and Meghan Alexander placed third in the medley relay (1:54.01). Going into the race the team was in fifth place, and the result bumped the Magicians to third.Alexander had a very strong day. She placed first in the 500 free with a time of 5:01.83, which was a good enough time to receive All-American consideration. She also placed second in the 200 Individual Medley (1:06.5).”It was an amazing swim,” Marblehead coach Sue Guertin said. “We only had five girls swimming today so the results are just that much better.”Katherine Calloway, Rafferty-Millet, Foley and Alexender also finished third in the 400 free relay (3:03.85)..WRESTLINGSt. John’s Prep’s wrestling team had three kids who placed in the Division 1 State Meet: Nick Roberts (152), placed second; TJ Crabtree (135), placed third; and Mike Mayo (130), placed fifth.GIRLS HOCKEYIn the North Cape League/Greater Boston League all-star game, the two teams skated to a 3-3 tie. Lynn’s Katie Burt, Marblehead’s Molly Depew and Beverly’s Brianna Jackson each played a period in net. They each allowed a goal.
