MARBLEHEAD ? “Black and White: The Idiots Guide to Surviving Teenagers” will make its debut Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Marblehead High School.North Shore singer/songwriter Don White, and storyteller Judith Black will present reflections on parenting, which she said is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. The duo promised the show would help parents maintain “non-homicidal behaviors” during their child’s adolescence.Judith Black, who is a resident of Marblehead, is a recipient of storytelling’s most coveted award, The Oracle Circle of Excellence. She performs nationally at storytelling festivals and has been commissioned to created original tales for Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities and National Public Radio.Lynn native Don White is a working class family man, who has emerged as one of the most thoughtful songwriters of the decade. The relevance of his songs is evident by the powerful reaction he evokes at every concert. He has performed throughout New England and has received accolades from such notable singer songwriters as Christine Lavin. In 1974 White grabbed his guitar and started hitchhiking around the country. After that first trip, White said his girlfriend Theresa, who is now his wife, joined him on the road. The couple backpacked around the country for three years with a guitar and dog finding occasional work as farm hands and day laborers.Since settling down in Lynn, White has been honing his singer songwriter skills. White studied the singer songwriting masters who passed through the legendary club “Catch A Rising Star.” Over the years he developed his own infectious brand of humor and songwriting skills that can elicit laughter and tears from the audience.White currently conducts performance skills workshops at Club Passim in Cambridge where he passes along his expertise to aspiring performers of all genres.
