When the state tournament rolls around, it’s best to bring your “A” game and that’s what Bishop Fenwick and Amy Pelletier did in the Crusaders’ 75-53 win over Ipswich in the Division 3 North quarterfinals Thursday at Ipswich.Pelletier nailed eight three pointers on the way to a career-high 31-point night. She and fellow Crusader guard Lizzy Trainor (20 points, 4 steals, 2 blocks, 6 rebounds) had a night to remember.”Amy Pelletier was on fire,” Fenwick coach Tim Harrington said. “She and Lizzy made a great combination. We’re playing some of our best basketball of the season.”The Crusaders came out flying, outscoring Ipswich 22-12 in the first quarter. The Tigers were the No. 2 seed with an 18-2 regular season record. Fenwick, now 15-7, is the No. 7 seed.Ipswich recovered in the second quarter, outscoring Fenwick 20-7 to take a 32-29 lead at the half, but it was all Fenwick the rest of the way. The Crusaders scored 46 second-half points while holding Ipswich to only 21. Sydney Southern (11 points) also came up big for Fenwick, which will advance to the semifinals against Stoneham. The date and location of that game have yet to be decided.
