REVERE – Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley will discuss cyberbullying and Internet safety during an April 14 visit to the Rumney Marsh Academy Middle School.Conley, who has offered testimony in support of anti-bullying legislation, was invited to speak by the Revere Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) and Dr. Paul Dakin, Revere’s superintendent of schools.”The growing use of cell phones, text messaging, social network sites and other technology has made communication much easier for all of us, but it’s also made devastating emotional harm as simple as pushing a button,” Conley told the Legislature, testifying in support of an anti-bullying bill. The prosecutor plans to bring along free software called ComputerCOP that parents can use to monitor their kids’ online activity. The session is designed to foster discussion of the roles that students, parents, educators and law enforcement officials play in making sure everyone has access to a safe and rewarding educational experience.”SEPAC is pleased to sponsor this presentation that will help parents with the challenges our children face in regards to bullying and Internet safety,” said SEPAC President Dawn Woodman, noting she and Vice President Judy Russi are eager, as are other parents, for tools and advice on how to keep their children safe. “Our children face a social atmosphere that is so different from when we grew up. Technology has taken bullying to a new extreme.”
