LYNN – Two Lynn schools will appear on a list of underperforming schools statewide and their principals will be removed, the Item has learned.According to a highly placed source, a meeting has been scheduled for today to announce to all Lynn Public Schools principals that both Harrington and Connery Elementary School will appear on the list, which will be released Friday by the Massachusetts Department of Education.The source said the principals of both schools will be removed from their respective positions.The Lynn school Web site lists Michael Molnar as principal at Harrington and Patricia Riley in charge at at Connery.Lynn Schools Superintendent Catherine Latham will then have to take further direction from the Department of Education, the source said Wednesday evening, adding, “As for what happens beyond that, we’re not sure yet.”Harrington had at least 30 percent of its students obtain “warning/failing” results in every category on the 2009 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System tests.The test measures English and math proficiency for grades 3-5, as well as science for fifth-graders.Connery had at least 27 percent of its students test in the “warning/failing” in each category.
