LYNN – A Lynn man was arraigned Thursday in District Court on charges of assault to commit murder, domestic assault and battery and witness intimidation after he came home drunk Wednesday night and drunkenly assaulted his girlfriend.Ricardo Lugos, 24, of 452 Western Ave., was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for April 1.According to the police report, Lugos came home around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday extremely intoxicated and tried to kiss and touch the victim. When she rejected him, he became angry, grabbed her by the throat and dragged her by her hair while yelling at her.The victim immediately grabbed her cell phone once he let go, and when Lugos asked who she was calling, she told him, “the police.” He reportedly then ripped the phone out of her hand and told her she “wasn’t going to call anyone” before she ran out into the hall. Neighbors from other apartments in the building were in the hallway and told the victim they had already called the police. Lugos then fled the scene.According to the report, the victim had a red, swollen bruise on her right eye and redness around her neck. Police said she refused medical attention and appeared very scared and confused.A few hours later, police received a report of a break-in at the couple’s home, where the incident occurred. Upon arrival, police found a man, later found to be Lugos, standing toward the back of the building. Lugos ran around the back of the building and was stopped by additional officers who had arrived.When asked what he had been drinking, Lugos replied, “a lot of tequila.” The victim told police Lugos had been arrested on domestic assault charges previously for causing injuries to the victim that led to hospital treatment.
