Talk about a solid start.The Lynnfield boys lacrosse team opened with a 12-1 victory over host Cambridge on Thursday.A.J. Roberto led the Pioneers with three goals and an assist in their season opener.The defending Cape Ann League Small champs are coming off a 16-3 season in which they lost to Hanover in the second round of the state tournament.Others who impressed for Lynnfield yesterday were Tim LaMusta (1 goal, 2 assists), Jake Panzini (2 goals, 1 assist), John Tremblay (3 assists), Blake Strater (2 goals), John Leydon (1 goal), Joe Hennessy (1 goal), Craig Meineger (1 goal) and Travis Panzini (1 goal, 1 assist). Doug Ullian made 14 saves.In other boys lacrosse news, the Peabody-St. John’s Prep game has been rescheduled to Saturday (11 a.m.) at The Prep.VOLLEYBALLPrep 3, Xaverian 0At St. John’s, the Eagles won their games 25-10, 25-20 and 25-19, getting good performances from senior setter Luka Ralic (30 assists) and senior middle hitter Andrew Lutz (18 kills) to improve to 2-0.
