Lacrosse: Foss, St. Mary’s soar past Marian

Freshman Sarah Foss scored four goals to lead the St. Mary’s girls lacrosse team to a 16-3 win over Marian Wednesday at Framingham.The Spartans were all business, taking a 10-2 lead by the half and never letting up. Felicia Ruano had three goals and Liz Giacchino, Mikaela Donovan and Marisa Maccario netted one each. Freshman Brooke Bergeron (11 saves) was in net for the win. St. Mary’s is 3-0.Fenwick 22, Lowell Catholic 1At Fenwick, Becca Graves had another big day offensively, scoring seven goals. Grace Celona had four goals, Lauren Moulton, three goals and Erin Griffin, two goals. Casey Landry and Nicole Votta shared the net duties. Fenwick is 3-1.Pentucket 15, Marblehead 13At Pentucket, the Magicians led 7-6 at the half, but the game was up for grabs the entire way. Pentucket scored two goals in the final four minutes to put the game away. Katie Corbett and Olivia Raisner each had three goals, Maika Strogoff and Tyler Strogoff added two each and Kiley Fischer, Sara Kalafa and Meg Collins added one each. Goalie Sara Noyes had to leave the game about 10 minutes in due to a shoulder injury. Kelly Collins went the rest of the way.Triton 19, Beverly 9At Triton, Clare Leathersich had three goals and Lainey Berfeld two, but it wasn’t enough to counter a tough Triton offense. Ally Cecchini, Carly Baker, Hayley Lewis and Molly McGovern also found the net for the Panthers (0-3).BOYS LACROSSENashoba 19, Lynn 6At Nashoba, Paul Streikis had a hat trick and Matt Burnett added his first two varsity goals for Lynn, who had to play with Demetrius Polk and Josh Amirault in goal after an injury in practice sidelined the team’s starting goaltender.Mystic Valley 13, Tech 0At Malden, freshman Scott Crooker answered the call in net for the Tigers after the starting goalie got injured in the last game. He did an admirable job in his first shot in net, facing 28 shots. Tech is 0-3.Marian 4, St. Mary’s 2At Manning Field, defense ruled the day as the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 through three quarters. Nico Manganiello and Andrew Markham had the Spartan (0-4) goals while Donald Hesse made 14 saves in net.Masco 8, Marblehead 4At Marblehead, the Magicians (1-2) had plenty of good chances but couldn’t put the ball in the net. Jess Lipkind had two goals and Hunter Whitmore added a goal and an assist. Jacob Maselik had the other Marblehead goal.
