NAHANT-The district just inked a new, three-year contract with Superintendent Philip Devaux.When Devaux took the helm of the district on July 1, 2009, he signed a one-year contract that paid $46,000 for working 100 days a year.School Committee Vice Chairman Christine Kendall said Devaux, who served as the superintendent for the Marblehead Public Schools from 1995 through 2002, would continue to receive $50,000 for working 100 days a year.?It’s exactly the same contract,” she said. “It will run through June 30, 2013.”Kendall said the School Committee is thrilled Devaux agreed to a long-term contract.?We are very pleased with his performance,” she said. “He has done a wonderful job and gets along with the parents, students, staff and School Committee. We’re very luck to have him.”Kendall added Devaux has been instrumental in helping craft a strategic plan for Johnson School and he is invested in the district.?He brought stability into the district at a time when it needed leadership,” she said. “I think it will also be helpful for the school staff to have the stability it needs going into the future.”
