LYNN – One Lynn resident is opening his tap at no charge for residents from area communities who do not have potable water.Mike Cahill, 8 Jackson Terrace, said his outside spigot is on and anyone needing water is welcome to bring their own containers and fill them at no charge.”I heard about all the price gouging and some people selling bottled water for $25 a gallon,” he said. “It’s so unnecessary. We’re all neighbors and we should all be helping each other out in an emergency like this so I’m not charging anyone for water. It’s something we all need to survive and we should be good neighbors. I have a hose outside and the spigot is on. Anyone who needs water is welcome to help themselves.”Lynn does not receive its water from the MWRA so it is not affected by the Weston pipe failure that has left two million people without treated water. A boil-water order remains in effect for Boston and many surrounding communities, including part of Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Revere, Saugus and Swampscott.Cahill said he would keep the outside spigot and hose available until the MRWA problem is resolved and all surrounding communities have drinkable water.
