It was a banner day for Lynn’s local baseball teams Wednesday.Both St. Mary’s and Classical won in the afternoon, and then English’s Roberto Reyes capped the day off with a walkoff two-run homer for English’s baseball team with two outs in the seventh to beat Marblehead, 5-3.English 5, Marblehead 3″Roberto had been struggling earlier in the game,” English coach Joe Caponigro said. “He had struck out twice earlier in the game. He put it all behind him and delivered.”Sam Hill had a strong performance on the mound. He went the distance, striking out 10.”Sam was his usual self – a bulldog,” said Caponigro. “He just pounds the strike zone. Catholic 1At Arlington, Matt Turmenne pitched a gem for the Spartans (8-3, 5-3 Catholic Central League).”(Turmenne) was pretty dominant out there,” St. Mary’s coach Derek Dana said. “It was the best game that I’ve seen him pitch from start-to-finish. He got the strikeouts when we needed it. His curveball was great.”It took a while for the Spartans bats to get going. They got all three of their runs in the sixth inning. Nick Day, Alex Fiste and Angelo Codispotti scored St. Mary’s runs.Classical 6, Saugus 2At Lynn, the Rams (2-7) had a power surge, as freshman Kyle Devin hit two homeruns and Tyler Gauthier hit one shot. Wilfredo Feliz hit an RBI single. Ellido Reyes and Ryan Powers both scored a run.Greg Rybak went the distance and allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out three and walking three. Rybak was the winning pitcher for both Classical wins.Fenwick 8, Spellman 3At Peabody, Zach Brian picked up his third win of the season, as the Crusaders (10-4, 7-2 CCL).”It was the best (Brian) looked all season,” Fenwick coach Russ Steeves said. “He threw a great five innings.”Mike Davis pitched the final two innings.Peabody 2, Gloucester 1At Gloucester, Joey Gruntkosky outdueled Mackenzie Quinn for the Tanners (8-2, 7-1 Northeastern Conference). Gruntkosky allowed eight hits, while striking out seven and walking one. He helped his own cause by scoring the first run. Andrew Bucci knocked in Derrik pereira for the other run. Losano went 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and the RBI.Salem 7, Swampscott 6At Salem, Dan Dobrosielski hit a two-run walk-off double in the seventh inning, to cap off a four-run seventh inning. Garrett Dube pitched four scoreless innings to pick up the win.Nick Meninno pitched great over six innings for the Big Blue (2-8). He allowed only one run. Mike Walsh knocked in a pair of runs.Beverly 9, Winthrop 3At Winthrop, Chris Mitchell picked up the win on the mound. He allowed two earned runs over five and two thirds innings. Pat Wilson closed out the game and picked up the save. Ethan Trowt had a huge game at the plate. He had four hits, two RBI and three runs. Andy Brown had two RBI.Cath. Memorial 3, St. John’s 2At Danvers, Justin Peluso had three line drive hits and an RBI for the Eagles (6-6). He had a second RBI taken away from him when he hit a ground-rule double. Rob Atkin had an RBI single for the other run.Danvers 13, Revere 0At Danvers, Matt LeFleur pitched a five hit shut out to pick up his first win of the year for the Falcons (7-3). Mike Harrison and DJ Yost both had three hits and a pair of RBI to lead the offensive attack.Wilmington 7, Lynnfield 1At Lynnfield, Chris Klotzbier hit an RBI double for the Pioneers (4-6) lone run.
