SWAMPSCOTT-For a fourth year in a row, the Beach Bluff Cycling Club is teaming up in the fight against multiple sclerosis.Myles Brown, who is captain of the cycling group, said 35 riders have already registered for the annual Cape Cod Getaway, a two-day 150-mile bicycle ride organized by the Greater New England chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.?We’re teaming up with Gourmet Garden Restaurant again this year,” Brown said. “This team has participated for four years and it has always been a very rewarding experience for us. Over the last four years we’ve been able to raise $70,000 to fight MS which is a real credit to our riders and reflects the enormous support we’ve received from Gourmet Garden and our other corporate co-sponsors, friends and neighbors.”During the team’s annual fundraiser last month Ricky Huang, one of the owners of Gourmet Garden, presented the Beach Bluff Cycling Club with a $3,000 corporate sponsorship for the annual run.?Our goal at Gourmet Garden is not only to provide the best possible service to our guests, but also to give back to the community,” Huang said. “I can’t think of a better way of doing that than by supporting the cycling team as they work toward their goal of creating a world free of MS.”Originally comprised of a handful of cycling enthusiasts in 2006, the Beach Bluff Cycling Club has grown to more than 35 riders from communities around Greater Boston. Last year the club doubled its fund-raising goal and finished in the top 10 team category by raising more than $40,000. The team was designated a “Super Team” by ride organizers and was presented with an award for outstanding achievement.Team member Kathy O’Sullivan, who has multiple sclerosis, has been riding for four years.?Multiple sclerosis affects more than 19,000 in New England alone,” she said. “As a person who lives with MS, I feel lucky to be able ride for those who can’t.”The 150-mile ride gets underway June 26 and more than 2,000 cyclists are expected to participate in the ride from Quincy’s Marina Bay to Provincetown. Individuals interested in making a donation to Team Gourmet Garden can do so online at msnewengland.org.
