St. John’s Prep defeated its rival and the perennial tennis powerhouse of the central/western part of the state, St. John’s of Shrewsbury, 3-2, on Monday.”We have a special rivalry with (SJS),” Eagles coach Mark Metropolis said, recalling that one year his team lost to SJS twice during the regular season and then beat them in the state final.The Prep’s Mike Beluch (of Lynn) and Mark Corvi won first doubles: 3-6, 6-0, 6-2.
