The season just continues to move in the right direction for the St. Mary’s girls lacrosse team. On Wednesday, the Spartans expanded on their perfect record with a 5-4 win over Williams.For St. Mary’s (13-0), Felicia Ruano led the charge with three goals. Molly Carey and Bridget Donovan each added a goal apiece in the effort.”We played well,” said St. Mary’s coach Doug Lowe. “We seem to be winning a lot of one-goal games.”For the Spartans, the Catholic Central League win is a positive step heading into the weekend.”We have four games in five days starting on Friday,” said Lowe. “This was a good win to give us some momentum going into a busy part of the schedule.”Swampscott 14, Gloucester 9At Gloucester, the Big Blue came back from a 5-4 halftime deficit behind a 5-1 run to start the second half. Swampscott (7-5) was led by the duo of Elise Giangregorio and Mallory McDonough. Giangregorio scored five goals and recorded an assist while McDonough added four goals and two assists.Also scoring for Swampscott were Taylor Beaton and Katie Zarinsky with two goals each; Casey Connolly added a goal as well.On the defensive end for the Big Blue, Kelly Gillis made 20 saves while freshman Alexa Goldman put together a standout performance in the defensive zone.Peabody 14, Salem 6At Salem, the Tanners rolled behind strong games from Casey Broughton, Katie Teixeira, and Brittany Lefave. Broughton racked up five goals and an assist, while Teixeira added four goals and an assist and Lefave finished with four goals and three assists. Also adding to the scoring parade was Shannon Silvia with a goal and assist.For Peabody (9-4) Brittany Costa had another solid game in net, making 14 saves.Marblehead 16, Beverly 15At Beverly, the Magicians (11-3) led the whole way with the Panthers closing within a goal with three minutes remaining. Olivia Raisner (5 goals) led the scoring charge with Sara Kalafa, Kiley Fischer and Hayley Braun adding two each. Also winning for Saugus (2-4) were Ashley Czboski, 400 hurdles; Raquel Manley, 2-mile; Ashley Aldred, 400; Rachel Moreau, 110 hurdles; Cecilia Cresta-Devine, triple jump; Stephanie Perella, discus; and Kylie Trainor, shot put.Lynnfield 87, Pentucket 58At Lynnfield, Scout Benson and Meghan Goodwin each won three events to lead the Pioneers. Benson won the long jump (14-7); 400 hurdles (70.1); and the 110 hurdles (16.6) while Goodwin won the triple jump (32-0); 400 (61.2); and 200 (25.8). Also in the victory, Patti Kloza set a school record in the javelin with a throw of 93-4.
