Fenwick’s track program had its strongest performance in the Division 4 State Relays in recent memory. The girls team finished in third place, while the boys finished in ninth.Tina Moran, Katie Wilkinson and Andi Sidell combined to win the shot put relay (98-11) and finished second in the discus (273-10). Marial Quezada, Faye Haley, Melissa O’Brien and Cailin Webb placed third in the 4×400 (4:22). Quezada, Haley, O’Brien and Taylor Black also took home third place in the 4×800 (10:26). Haley, Lauren McHugh and Lorin Moustakis placed fifth in the javelin relay (252-7).Zach Nardone, Anthony Consoles and Sean Murphy placed second in the shot put relay (122-1). Nardone, Consoles and Sean Farrell also finished second in the discus (330-8). Andrew Young, Angelo Maida, Tom Banks and Bill Harrington placed fourth in the mile relay (19:18). Julia Kingsley, Maura Tubridy, Emma McGuirk and Sarah Bittermann combined to take home top honors in the 4×400 (4:05, an outdoor track school record) to highlight the team’s 11th-place finish. McGuirk (17-3), Kingsley (16-3) and Bittermann (16) also teamed up for a third-place finish in the high jump (also a school record).Bittermann, Kingsley, McGuirk and Gretchen Rowe placed fourth in the 1,600 sprint medley (4:25.81). Madeline Piela, Chloe Heskett, Courtney Maher and Tubridy placed ninth in the 4×800 (10:26.55).Marlene Christenson led Danvers’ shot put relay team (95-9 3/4). The Falcons took home third place. Christenson’s throw was 34-11. Megan Taylor’s jump of 4-9 led the girls team to a fourth-place finish (13-9). Erin Barker, Haley Dyer, Rachel Kaczynski and Kristin Yost combined to finish fifth in the distance medley (14:01.52). The discus relay team placed sixth (245-11). Christina Kaczynski, Rachel Kaczynski, Maria Pantazelos and Xanthi Pantazelos combined to finish sixth in the 1,600 sprint medley (4:33.61). The final team to finish in the top 10 for the Falcons was their triple jump relay (93-8), which finished eighth.Saugus had three top-10 performances: long jump, fourth place, 48-02; Ashley Aldred, Lauren Atkins, Ashley Firth and Cecilia Cresta-Devine, ninth place, 1,600 sprint medley (4:34.96); and discus, 10th place, 227-11.Danvers highlighted the area’s performance in the boys competition, placing 14th. Joseph Manson’s throw of 44-11 1/2 led the relay team to a second-place finish (128-5 1/2). The Falcons discus team placed fifth with a cumulative throw of 334-9.
