LYNN – It’s a church, not a museum, but the lower hall is brimming with artwork.Holy Family Church at 26 Bessom St. will hold its second annual Sacred Art Show on Pentecost Sunday, May 23 following each Mass.According to the Rev. Gregory Mercurio, the church pastor, the show includes everything from stained-glass designs to a life-sized paper-mache Jesus.”Students in kindergarten to 10th grade have been hard at work creating Christian-themed art under the guidance of Margaurita Spear, a recent Montserrat College of Art graduate with a degree in painting and art education,” said Mercurio, noting that all works of art will be on display in the lower church hall after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses. The Jesus statue is a life-sized depiction of the Third Station of the Cross, created by students from the current Confirmation class.”This life-sized Jesus was displayed on the church’s altar during Easter,” Mercurio said. “The fruits of the students’ creative efforts show a passion for their beliefs as well as an abundance of talent in drawing, painting and sculpture.”
