Gruntkosky, Ressel lead NEC baseball all-stars

Joe Gruntkosky of Peabody, a senior pitcher, and Connor Ressel of Gloucester, a senior outfielder, were the baseball players of the year in the Northeastern Conference North and South, respectively, in all-star balloting conducted by the league’s 12 coaches.Mark Bettencourt (North) and Roger Day (South) were the coaches of the year.The NEC North and South will play Tuesday (7) at Fraser Field in the annual all-star game.Starters for the North – selected by the coaches – are as follows:North: Austin Butler, Beverly, third base; Ethan Trowt, Beverly, left field; Roberto Reyes, English, catcher; Dani Vicente, English, shortstop; Brian Maynard, English, center field; Jim Leavitt, Peabody, second base; Bobby Losanno, Peabody, right field; Genaro Ciulla, Peabody, designated hitter; and Sean Linehan, Salem, pitcher.The rest of the team: BEVERLY: Joe Wioncek (catcher) and Andy Brown (infield); CLASSICAL: Tyler Gauthier (first base), Kyle Devin (outfield), Eddie Terrero (designated hitter); ENGLISH: Sam Hill (pitcher), Gabe Smith (pitcher) and Brendan Carritte (infield/outfield); PEABODY: Ramses Vittini (outfield) and Andrew Bucci (infield); REVERE: Dale Paradise (infield) and Chris Adreani (outfield); SALEM: Dario Medrano (first base).Starters for the South are: Greg Ladd, Danvers, pitcher; Brett Cahill, Gloucester, catcher; Ressel, center field; Phil DeMiao, Gloucester, designated hitter; Ben Koopman, Marblehead, first base; Ryan Stanojev, Marblehead, right field; John Moore, Saugus, left field; Vinny Talluto, Saugus, third base; Alex Patkin, Swampscott, second base, and Nick McCarthy, Winthrop (shortstop).The rest of the team consists of: DANVERS: Eric Burgos (catcher), Kyle Larson (second base), Nick Gikas (third base) and D.J.
