Swampscott High principal leaving for job in Marblehead

SWAMPSCOTT – High School Principal Brian Salzer has submitted his resignation, effective June 30, to school officials and has accepted a position with the Marblehead School Department.

Salzer, who has been with the district for one year, has accepted the position of business manager for the Marblehead Public Schools.School Committee Chairman Jacqueline Kinney said Salzer has been an asset to the district.
?During his service at Swampscott High School, he proved himself to be an excellent and inspiring leader, and was well liked and respected by faculty and students alike,” she said. “Mr. Salzer’s coming to

Swampscott signaled the beginning of a new era of innovative learning and stability, and his resignation was accepted with sadness.”Salzer was hired to replace former high school principal Larry Murphy, who resigned June 30, 2009 when his three-year contract with the district expired.Kinney said Superintendent Lynne Celli, who started work today, is ready to hit the ground running.?We are excited to continue the process of moving the Swampscott Public Schools forward with our new Superintendent,” she said. (We) have already begun the next steps of preparing a plan for success for all Swampscott schools, as well as preparing for a search for a replacement for Mr. Salzer.”
