Track: Lynnfield girls finish up second at EMass D4 Meet

In an extremely well-rounded performance, Lynnfield’s girls track team ran to a second-place finish at the Eastern Mass. Division 4 Meet to highlight a busy weekend of track.The Pioneers finished with 42 points, only two points from overtaking conference rival Hamilton-Wenham.The 4×400 relay team earned the lone first-place finish with a time of 4:08.79. Lynnfield also had three second-place finishes: Meaghan Goodwin, 200 (26.6); Scout Benson, 100 hurdles (16.08); and Brittany Hunt, pole vault (8-6). The Pioneers had eight more top-10 performances: Heather Denisco, third, high jump (5-3); Sammi Albanese, sixth, 2-mile (12:10.64); Angelica Kartsonis, sixth, pole vault (8-0); B. Hunt, seventh, mile (5:26.72); 4×800 relay, seventh (10:24.85); Gretta Hunt, 10th,.400 (70.03); and Hannah Adams, 10th, shot put (30-8).Faye Haley gave Fenwick its only first place on the day: 800 (2:24.19). The Crusaders also had a strong day in the throwing events. Kristina Moran finished fourth in the shot put (33-8) and sixth in the discus (96-3); while Haley placed eighth in the javelin (99-0). Fenwick had three more top-10 performances: 4×800 relay, fifth place (10:21.07); Brittany Dolan, sixth, 100 hurdles (16.79); and 4×100 relay, 10th place (52.52).Winthrop’s Jenny Fucillo placed second in the 400 hurdles (67.06).Emma McGuirk, of Marblehead, took home the only first place performance of the area in the Division 3 Meet. She placed first in the 400 (59.49). She also was a member of the second-place finishing 4×400 relay team (4:05.43). Her teammates were Julia Kingsley, Sarah Bittermann and Maura Tubridy.The Magicians had three other top-10 performances: Bittermann, second, 400 hurdles (65.79); Madeline Piela, eighth, mile (5:26); and Gretchen Rowe, ninth, 800 (2:27.82).Danvers had nine top-10 performances: Christina Kaczynski, second, 400 (59.53); Marlene Christenson, fourth, discus (98-9) and seventh, shot put (33-0); Megan Taylor, sixth, high jump (5-0); Amanda Caldarone, seventh, 100 hurdles (16.28); Carson Garvin, ninth, shot put (31-4); Maria Pantazelos, ninth, 200 (27.42) and 10th, triple jump (33-1 3/4); and Rachel Kaczynski, 10th, 800 (2:27.87).Swampscott had four top-10 performances: Lindsay Walsh, second, 2-mile (11:13.12); Melinda Wilson, seventh, discus (95-1); Amelia Antrim, ninth, mile (5:26.42); and Nancy Do, 10th, long jump (15-10 1/4).Lauren Atkins had two top-10 performances for Saugus: long jump, fourth place (16-8 3/4); and 100, sixth place (12.93). Ashley Aldred earned the Sachems’ only other top-10 performance: 400, sixth place (61.22).Tech’s Arthina Robert placed eighth in the 100 (13.10).English’s Bianca Fowler highlighted the Division 1 meet. She took home two top-10 performances: high jump, sixth (4-11); and 100, ninth (12.99).Peabody had four top-10 performances: Catarina Rocha, second, mile (5:09.37); Andrea Saccardo, third, 400 hurdles (1:06 3/4); Amanda Nielsen, sixth, high jump (4-11); and Christina Simoes, 10th, javelin (85-7).Beverly had two first-place finishes in the Division 1 Meet: Monica Adler, mile (5:03.63); and Melissa Chapman, 2-mile (10:55.22). The Panthers had two other top-10 performances: Adler, Chapman, Alison Collins and Jessica Gomes, second, 4×800 (9:38.32); and Wendi Marciano, sixth, 800 (2:23.73).Classical’s Hulerie McGuffie placed third in the 400 (58.86).St. John’s placed fourth in the Division 1 boys meet. Jared Kadich placed first in the 400 (48.87). The Eagles had six other top-five performances: George Sessoms, third, 200 (22.57); Sean Enos, third, discus (150-6), and fifth, shot put (49-5); Jack Durkin, fourth, high jump (6-1); and Scott Sheehan, fourth, javelin (160-4).Peabody had six top-10 performances: Zach Grube, third, high jump (6-1); David Richardson, fourth, 400 hurdles (58.19); Jamal Abu-Hijleh, fifth, 200 (22.77), and eighth, long jump (21-2 1/4); Edwin Mejia, eighth, 400 hurdles (59.01); 4×100, eighth (44.39); and Nick Pigulski, eighth, javelin (150-6).English had four top-10
