LYNN – The Callahan Elementary School held their annual field day on Thursday and Principal Edward Turmenne said it was “a busy day and highly successful.””Usually when a parent comes to a school it is because their child is in trouble,” he said. “This is a different situation where it is a positive thing working together for everyone’s success. With the help of the parents, teachers and lunch aides it was a great success and the children really appreciated it. It’s a lot of work but we feel it is well worth it.”Some Lynn Classical High School seniors worked together at the event to supplement supervision at each game and activity throughout the day, which Turmenne said was a great help. Each grade wore a different color t-shirt, representative of the colors of the rainbow.A deejay played music and awarded prizes to students. Other activities included a moon bounce, relay races and a dunk tank, which students were able to “throw” their parents and some teachers into. The PTO provided hot dogs and chips, and food services provided a lunch for each child who participated. The day concluded with the fifth grade class’ three-legged race and the winner received a Target gift card.
