Roundup: Fabrizio pitches Prep past Acton-Boxborough

Nick Fabrizio put together a stellar performance on the mound for St. John’s Prep’s baseball team Sunday. The 12th-seeded Eagles upset fifth-ranked Acton-Boxborough 5-3 in nine innings.”(Fabrizio) pitched very well,” St. John’s coach Pat Yanchus said. “He held a very strong offensive team to only seven hits.”Fabrizio lasted eight innings and picked up the win. Pat Connaughton allowed an unearned run in the ninth, but managed to pick up the save.St. John’s (13-8) spread out the run production. Alex Markakis had the strongest day as he scored a run and hit an RBI double. Kevin Davis and Connaughton also both had RBI doubles. Tyler Coppola hit an RBI triple, while Anthony Capuano knocked in the last run on a single.
