NAHANT – The works of James Joyce will be in full bloom on Wednesday when the Nahant Public Library celebrates “Bloomsday.”The seventh annual Bloomsday celebration, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 2 p.m.Leopold Bloom is the fictional protagonist of James Joyce’s “Ulysses.” The novel is set in Dublin, Ireland on June 16, 1904.Maureen Edison, who will moderate this year’s open reading, explained the novel is broken into episodes and episodes four and five would be read out loud.”These are especially delightful episodes to read aloud, containing some laugh out loud moments and a good look at the domestic situation of Leopold and Molly Bloom,” she said. “Everyone is welcome to read or listen to James Joyce’s arresting voices from his monumental novel.”Edison said the selected episodes offer readers their first views of Bloom, who becomes a father figure for Stephen Dedalus during the course of the novel.Edison said she hopes talented readers who have participated the last several years would be in attendance along with some new faces.Copies of the episodes are available at the Nahant Public Library.
