MARBLEHEAD – The 47th annual Tedesco Cup kicked off under glorious conditions on Friday at Tedesco CC and the team of Thomas Groom and Jim Walsh found the day to their liking.Click here for a photo gallery of this matchTaking advantage of perfect scoring conditions in the morning, the duo ripped off a string of four straight birdies midway through their round to post a score of 12-under par 58 to hold a one shot lead over Douglas Doben and Andrew Leader-Cramer.Former winners John DeJesus-Chip O’Hare are in third place after an opening round 61 with the teams of Chuck Angelopulos-Dennis Drinkwater and Chris Kane-George Sargent tied for fifth at 8-under.Kane and Sargent’s round came in the afternoon, when the breeze freshened and sent scores skyrocketing.Behind them comes a logjam of teams as 17 teams are separated by three strokes.In the gross competition, DeJesus and O’Hare share the top spot with Kane-Sargent after a sterling 1-under par 69.A quintet of teams share third place at even par 70 with a total of 17 teams sitting with four shots of the top spot entering today.
