Police responded to the Dorchester condo of Lynn native and prominent attorney Gary Zerola early Thursday morning when a 911 call reported a person had been stabbed.According to published reports, the officers found a 24-year-old woman from Medford who had slit her wrists after an argument with Zerola, who was not in the condo at the time of the investigation.A witness claimed Zerola, 38, had been at Splash Ultra Lounge with another woman before leaving her and bringing the Medford woman to his apartment, where she was allegedly so upset about the news of the other woman and used a kitchen knife to cut her wrist.Zerola is not currently facing charges although the report stated police are planning on questioning him about the seven bars of the Class C anti-anxiety medication, Aprazolam, which was allegedly seized from his bedroom. He had previously been acquitted of raping two teenage girls in Boston in the course of the last three years. Similar charges were dropped in Miami and he was also exonerated of assaulting a Boston police officer.Zerola was quoted by The Item in April of 2009 as saying, “There is no bigger believer in the American criminal justice system than me,” after he had been acquitted of public urination and assaulting a police officer. He had also been arrested in 2008 for public urination, assault and battery on a police officer and disturbing the peace on State Street in Boston after the Celtics won the NBA Championship.Zerola was an Essex County prosecutor before becoming a Suffolk County prosecutor until his resignation in 2000, when he opened a private practice. Zerola has taken on a number of high-profile cases in the Lynn area, was named People Magazine’s “Most Eligible Bachelor” in 2003 and was once tapped to star in ABC’s ‘The Bachelor.’
