Item Staff ReportMoultonborough, N.H. police are investigating an accident on a nearby lake which seriously injured a 12-year-old boy and involved a boat driven by a Peabody man.The boy, David Angelini Jr. of Windham, N.H., sustained head injuries when the inner tube that he and another boy, Ryan Dzengelewski, 11, of Peabody, were being towed in by a personal watercraft, collided with a moored boat on Lake Kanasatka where Angelini had been staying with family members.Michael O’Neil, 46, also of Peabody and a relative of Angelini, was the operator of the personal watercraft.The New Hampshire Marine Patrol said the incident,which occured Friday afternoon, began when O’Neil towed the inner tube between a raft and an unoccupied, moored boat and the tube collided with the boat’s hull.According to published reports, Angelini is in critical condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.Near the same time as the accident, a cell of thunderstorms hit the area and emergency medical transport helicopters from three New England hospitals, including one in Boston, another in Lebanon, N.H. and a third from Portland, Maine were unable to respond.Instead, local police escorted an ambulance to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, and the boy was later rushed to Dartmouth-Hitchcockm in Labanon, N.H.The Marine Patrol said they have determined that alcohol was not a factor.
