SALEM – A Swampscott man has been ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, according to Carrie Kimball Monahan, spokesman for District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.Chaz Lee Burton, 21, 9 Elliott St., was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder and eight counts of assault and battery by a dangerous weapon.Monahan said Burton is scheduled for a dangerousness hearing July 26 in Salem District Court.Burton allegedly stabbed a fellow Taco Bell employee in the head, chest and abdomen while leaving the Highland Avenue restaurant early Sunday morning.According to police, when they arrived at the scene, Derrick Cusumano was bleeding heavily.Cusumano told police Burton stabbed him in the parking lot. A short time later, staff at Salem Hospital contacted police saying a “suspicious male” had entered the hospital for treatment. Police responded to the hospital and located Burton, who was arrested after a brief investigation.In December 2009, Burton was arrested and charged in Lynn with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, malicious property destruction and knife ordinance violation. He is scheduled to go to trial on those charges later this month.
