SWAMPSCOTT – Two Swampscott men were arrested Saturday night on a myriad of drug charges, including what appeared to be three pounds of marijuana, according to Swampscott police.Michael Stone, 20, 55 Buena Vista St., and Sergay Kuperman, 19, 17 Alden Road, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to violate substance laws, possession of class D with intent to distribute, possession of class D substance, possession in a school zone and speeding.Detective Jim Schultz said the charges stem from an incident that occurred in town Saturday evening.”Officer Candace Doyle stopped a motor vehicle for speeding,” he said. “She attempted to stop it on Humphrey Street but it didn’t stop until it got to Alden Road. She was backed up by Sgt. John Behen. During the traffic stop the officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and asked for permission to search the vehicle.”Schultz said the suspects allowed the officers to search the 2005 Lexus sedan.”During the search, officers found what appeared to be three pounds of marijuana in a small duffle bag,” he said. “The officers were backed by detectives from the Swampscott Criminal Investigations Divisions.”Schultz said the suspects have been released on bail.
