LYNN ? Mix it up with Shuffle Mode at Red Rock Park this evening.Shuffle Mode is a versatile 4-piece band comprised of seasoned veterans of the local and national music scene. The band is adept at covering many styles and genres of music including Van Morrison, The Beatles, U2 and “One Hit Wonders” like Gary Numan. The band consists of Kevin Kennedy on keyboard, Paul Soares on drums, Steve Monayer on bass and Sean Murphy on guitar. Kennedy is the frontman for Shuffle Mode, which focuses on classic hits, 80s music and current covers.Kennedy, who has been performing in the Boston area for more than 18 years, said the group is pleased it was invited to perform at Red Rock again this year.”As a lifelong Lynner growing up in the city I am really looking forward to playing the Red Rock concert series again,” he said. “Red Rock Park is a great setting for a concert.”Kennedy, who attended Berklee School of Music, was a member of the original band, “Fez Henry,” that opened for such national acts as The Tubes and the Del Fuegos in the 1980s. Kennedy played keyboards, bass and sang for White Lightnin’, a popular club and function band on the North Shore from 1988 through 2004.Soares started playing drums when he was 6 and he was playing professionally in the Greater Boston area by the time he was 18. In addition to his work with Shuffle Mode, Soares is a successful session and live-act drummer, frequently working with local recording artist Brian Maes and Worldplay, an eight-piece corporate-event band. Soares recently opened for Sheryl Crow and he has recorded with Barry Goodreau and the late Brad Delp, both original members of the band Boston.Monayer has more than 27 years of experience playing bass, more than 20 of those professionally. He has shared the stage with the Goo Goo Dolls, Violent Femmes, Spin Doctors, Better Than Ezra and God Street Wine. Monayer has countless recording sessions to his credit and was a sideman for PINK keyboardist Adrianna Balic.Murphy, a Salem resident, has been playing stringed and percussion instruments for 25 years. In addition to his work with Shuffle Mode, Murphy has been a member of several local bands over the years including The Nation, Dogwood and Burnt Toast.The free concert is part of the Summer Series sponsored by the Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach, a non-profit organization dedicated to the stewardship and promotion of the beach.The show begins at 6 this evening. Light refreshments will be available for sale and proceeds will go to Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach programs. Red Rock Park is located along the beach on Lynn Shore Drive.Other upcoming concerts in the series include 12:01 Blues Band on Aug. 12 and Mary Beth Maes Band on Aug. 19.
