LYNN – A Lynn man remains behind bars without the option of bail following his arraignment Monday in Boston’s Roxbury District Court where he was charged with the May 8 homicide of 14-year-old Jaewon Martin and the non-fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Jamaica Plain.Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said the defendant, Ramon Silvelo-Miles, 20, is accused of murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm in connection with the fatal shooting. An arrest warrant for the suspect was approved last week in the course of an investigation by the homicide units of the Boston Police Department and Suffolk prosecutor’s office and he was taken into custody Friday by members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, according to Conley spokesman Jake Wark.Silvelo-Miles was the second suspect charged in Martin’s death. The alleged gunman, Timothy Hearns, 20, was arrested July 30 and held without bail.Suffolk Assistant District Attorney Edward Krippendorf said Martin and the surviving victim were walking on May 8 to the basketball court at Columbus and Heath streets near the Bromley-Heath housing development when they stopped to talk to two young female acquaintances. Gang members associated with Heath Street are known to socialize in this area, said Krippendorf, adding that Martin was “an eighth grade honor roll student at the Timulty Middle School and was not a member of the Heath Street gang.”While the victims were playing basketball, Hearns was traveling to the housing project along with Silvelo-Miles and others in two cars. On arrival, Hearns allegedly got out of a car, drew a loaded revolver and opened fire on the ball players. Martin was struck in the chest.Silvelo-Miles, represented by attorney John Galvin, is due back in court on Sept. 2.
