NAHANT – Four out-of-town teens who allegedly drank alcohol on Nahant Beach, urinated in the sand and exposed themselves to beach goers, appeared in court Tuesday.Gerald White, 17, of 36 Dodge St., Everett, was charged with being a person under 21 in possession of alcohol, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, littering, indecent exposure and a warrant, while Blake Coughlin, 17, of 52 Essex St., #1, Everett and Kevin Valley, 17, of 23 Ellen Road, Burlington, were both charged with person under the age of 21 in possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct and littering. A juvenile was also charged with person under 21 in possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and littering.Coughlin and Valley were arraigned at Lynn District Court by Judge Dunbar Livingston and released on personal recognizance. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 4. White was arraigned by Judge James Wexler and released on personal recognizance with a pre-trial scheduled for Oct. 18.Saturday afternoon, Revere State Police Troopers say they were in the area of the halfway house on the beach when they saw White pull his pants down, exposing his genitalia to those in the parking lot, while laughing.White then allegedly pulled his pants up, walked over to the grassy area just before the parking lot and once again pulled his pants down, completely exposing his genitalia, while smiling. Police say the beach was crowded at the time, with plenty of people walking nearby. White was said to have gotten into the back seat of a red Kia, which had three other people in it. The officers say they saw Valley throw an empty 30-pack carton of beer onto the grass and got into the vehicle. The teens then got out of the vehicle with a football and headed down to the beach area.A few minutes later, police say a beach goer told them that two of the teens were urinating on the beach and that the others were drinking alcohol. Officers say they noticed numerous Natural Ice beer cans on the ground near the Kia.At that point, Valley, the juvenile and Coughlin were taken into custody. White was said to have become belligerent and loud, demanding to know why Coughlin was being arrested. As an officer attempted to place White under arrest, he allegedly struggled and tried to run away. Once handcuffed, White was said to have tried to kick an officer and began yelling expletives, with Coughlin allegedly doing the same.A beach goer later told police that she claimed to have seen White “shooting” a beer and that her 13-year-old daughter told her that she saw the teens urinating on the beach. The witness went on to say that she was about to confront the group when police arrived, saying she was “shocked” to have seen the teens urinating outside and that the incident “ruined her day at the beach.”
