Red Rock Park is going to the dogs this evening.The annual Dog Days of Summer Parade & Pageant, sponsored by the Daily Item, will be held next Thursday.Registration for The Parade of Dogs can be done online at http://www.dogdaysparade.com/ or in person the day of the event from 4:45 p.m.-5:25 p.m.The dog parade is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. and winners will be announced at 6 p.m. The grand prize winner will receive a year supply of pet food courtesy of Pet Express. There will be prizes for the biggest dog, smallest dog, cutest dog, ugliest dog and dog that looks most like its owner.Tara Cleary, The Daily Item’s director of advertising & new media, said this is the first year the popular event will held at Red Rock Park. In previous years it was held in Central Square as part of Third Thursdays.”We’re excited to move the event to a better venue for the dogs,” she said. “We’re expecting a good turnout.”Immediately following the Dog Days of Summer Parade & Pageant, the Mary Beth Maes Band will perform.Red Rock Park is located on the ocean side of Lynn Shore Drive.
