SWAMPSCOTT – A Swampscott woman has been appointed as Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Services at Marian Court College in Swampscott.Denise Hammon, who resides in town with her husband Gary, has more than 20 years experience as an educator.Marian Court College President Ghazi Darkazalli described Hammon as an accomplished policy researcher and strategic planner with a strong commitment to private higher education.”We are pleased to have such a highly qualified and accomplished individual join our leadership team as we continue to introduce new academic programs and implement the College’s strategic plan,” he said.Prior to accepting the position at Marian Court College, Hammon served as vice president of Policy & Research at the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM).Hammon was with AICUM, an organization of 60 colleges that provides advocacy for need-based financial assistance for Massachusetts students, for 14 years.In addition to her 14 years at AICUM, Hammon worked in enrollment management and marketing at Wentworth Institute of Technology and at Lesley University, where she specialized in government relations and regulatory compliance for teacher education graduate programs. She also served on several state Department of Higher Education committees and task forces.Hammon received her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Harvard University and she holds a doctorate in law and policy from Northeastern University. Currently Hammon is a trustee for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and an adjunct faculty member at Northeastern University.
