MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead native Robert Wolf, president of UBS Investment Bank and CEO of the investment firm UBS Group Americas, faced some stiff competition this week.Vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, Wolf played basketball with President Barack Obama Monday and golfed with the President late Wednesday afternoon.Wolf was joined by his sons for the indoor basketball game. Scores have not been released."I imagine the President won," a press spokesman for UBS in New York said Thursday afternoon. "It’s usually a good idea to let the President win, isn’t it?"The indoor basketball game at the Oak Bluffs School gym and the nine holes of golf at Mink Meadows Country Club may have been bright spots for the President. The unseasonal rainfall kept him and his family indoors at Blue Heron Farm, the multimillion-dollar compound he’s rented for the second straight summer, and curtailed outdoor vacation activities this week, according to an AP story.AP also quoted Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton, who reported that activities there have included reading, watching movies and playing poker with Obama’s Chicago pal Eric Whitaker – who’s staying at the compound with his wife, along with senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett and her daughter. The UBS chief executive was an early financial backer of Obama’s, raising $250,000 for him in 2006, and they also golfed at Martha’s Vineyard last year. Wolf serves on the White House’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
