MARBLEHEAD – A nine-member Transfer Station Building Committee will oversee the scale-down of the $22.2 million transfer station construction project.The building committee will meet with the Board of Health on Monday, Sept. 13 to receive their charge.Committee members include accountant and neighbor Elizabeth Genovese, Finance Committee member Matthew Herring, Recycling Committee member Jody Howard, Traffic and Safety Committee member Brian Hitchcock, large-project engineer Allen Waller and Patrick Van der Voorn, who has experience with solid waste projects and renewable energy.The committee will also include Board of Health member Todd Belf-Becker, who will serve as a voting member, Director of Public Health Wayne Attridge and Town Planner Becky Curran, who will serve as ex officio members.The six resident voting members were chosen Tuesday by the Board of Health from a field of 16 applicants. The number of applicants doubled since Aug. 9.Former 20-year Board of Health member David Becker, the father of Todd Belf-Becker, expressed interest in the committee but dropped out of the running. Becker said he planned to attend meetings of the committee and join in the public discussion.The $22.2 million project was defeated in a June 15 debt exclusion override.
