The Saugus girls soccer team was hit hard by graduation but coach Chris Coviello still is looking for his Sachems to return to the postseason in 2010.”I think that we are going to be OK,” Coviello said. “We lost a lot of seniors but we got some people back and others who are set to step in.”A year ago, the Sachems finished the regular season 10-7-1 and then knocked off Merrimack Valley Conference power Dracut in the opening round of the Division 2 North tourney. Saugus fell to Bishop Fenwick in the next round. While his team lost the bulk of its starting roster from last year, Coviello still has plenty of talent to go around. Leading the returnees will be his four captains – Emily Quinlan, Cecelia Cresta-Devine, Gabby Cogliano and Casey Evans.Other players to look for will be midfielder/forward Ashley Aldridge and Kerry Hagstrom. Another spot where the Sachems will be solid is in goal thanks to junior Melissa Toomey. The Sachems begin play next weekend with the Winthrop Tournament.
