BEVERLY ? The double-crossing hit Broadway musical “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” will be at the North Shore Music Theatre from Sept. 21 through Oct. 10.NSMT’s owner and producer Bill Hanney said it is a first-rate production that will dazzle audiences.”Missing this show would be a crime,” he said. “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is one of the smartest and funniest shows that has been on Broadway in the past few years. NSMT’s audiences are going to be transported to the French Riviera for a night of music, dancing, and high-society high jinks that will leave them roaring with laughter.”The production is based on the 1988 MGM film that centers on two con men living on the French Riviera: Lawrence Jameson, who makes his living by talking rich ladies out of their money, and small-time crook Freddy Benson, who swindles women with fabricated stories about his grandmother’s failing health. After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that the small French town isn’t big enough for the two of them. So they make a bet. The first one to swindle $50,000 from a young heiress is the winner and the loser must leave town.Brent Barrett stars as Lawrence Jameson and D.B. Bonds plays Freddy Benson.Barrett, who is a regular on Broadway, has appeared on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun, Kiss Me Kate, Candide and Grand Hotel. The show also features Brynn O’Malley as Christine Colgate, John Scherer as Andre Thibault, Lynne Wintersteller as Muriel Eubanks and Jennifer Cody as Jolene Oaks.Tickets are $35 – $65. Tickets are available by calling 978- 232-7200, online at www.nsmt.org and at the NSMT Box Office, 62 Dunham Road.
