LYNN – The Family and Children’s Service of Greater Lynn, Inc. will be hosting its 4th annual Family Fun Day today from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Lynn Commons. Families from Lynn and the surrounding areas are all welcome to attend the event at no cost.Children and families can take part in the afternoon event that provides raffles, arts and crafts, outdoor games and activities, relay races, face painting and a moon bounce (sorry Mom and Dad, the moon bounce is for kids only).Family and Children’s Service of Greater Lynn, Inc. is a community based program that has provided information, programs and services tailored to the needs of local families for over a century.Along with local volunteers, representatives for local services will attend this year’s event as well as school representatives and police and fire departments.Director of Development Maureen Willis says last year the event attracted over 300 people and judging by the weather report, she expects to see that amount of people or more. “After the kids get out of school, the Lynn Commons are filled with excitement and people,” said Willis. “We want to make sure parents have access to information they need about services offered in the community while the kids have fun.”The event is held in correlation with the United Way of Massachusetts Bay’s Corporate Volunteer Program. Employees from Target will be volunteering at this year’s Family Fun Day in an effort to help nearby non-profit organizations such as The Family and Children’s Service of Greater Lynn, Inc.”We want to give parents support and knowledge about services in the community so they can leave with information they need to be informed and connected as parents,” said Willis. While the parents have the opportunity to receive valuable information, the kids can stay entertained and even visit the Family and Children’s Service table to receive a free book. For more information about the Family and Children’s Service of Greater Lynn, Inc. or to get involved with their programs and services, visit 111 North Common St. in Lynn, online at www.fcslynn.org or by phone at 781-598-5517.
