The Saugus boys golf team landed its first victory of the season, defeating Everett, 8-0, Tuesday at Cedar Glen.Leading the way for Saugus was Mike Kitsoki, at number one (8-1); Nick Freehling, at number two (7-2); Kyle Powers, at number three (6-3); Cameron Norton, at number four (9-0); Dan Groark, at number five (6-3); Nick Haggerty, at number six (6-3); Marco Frehera, at number seven (7-2) and Kevin Maggorie, at number eight (6-3). Saugus (1-2) hopes to continue its recent success Wednesday against Classical.Swampscott 51 1/2, Classical 20 1/2At Tedesco, the Rams’ (0-2) Eric Brazell, Russ Holmes, and Mac St. Ives had strong performances. Brazell lost to Gino Cresta at number four (3 1/2-5 1/2); Holmes lost to Kevin Marescalchi at number six (4-5); and St. Ives lost to Matt Videtta at number seven (3 1/2-5 1/2). The rest of the Big Blue winners were: Sean Lannon, at number one (6-3); Ryan Wheeler, at number two (8 1/2-1/2); Trevor Massey, at number three (7-2); Josh Lunder, at number 5 (7-2); and Maxx Cargill, at number eight (7-2). Swampscott (2-0) squares off against Peabody Thursday.Austin Prep 150, St. Mary’s 112At Thompson Country Club, the Spartans had strong performances from Cam O’Neil, Dave Deschenes, and Nick Amenta despite the course conditions not being ideal. O’Neil scored a team-high 22 points. Deschenes chipped in with 18 points. Amenta also played very well, scoring 16 points. St. Mary’s (3-1) squares off against Cardinal Spellman Wednesday.Danvers 145, Fenwick 69At Ferncroft, the Falcons received strong performances from George Merry and Colin Delaney. Merry shot even par and received 36 points for his effort. Delaney earned 31 points. Danvers (2-1) plays Peabody Wednesday.Central Catholic 238, St. John’s 242At Salem Country Club, St. John’s Tim Cunningham and Jake Danforth led the way. Cunningham scored a team best 38 points. Danforth was right behind Cunningham scoring 39 points. St. John’s (1-2) plays St. Mary’s Thursday.Salem 49, Winthrop 23At Olde Salem Greens, Salem took six out of the eight spots. Leading the way for the Witches was Cameron Darmody, at number one (5-4); Timothy Richmond, at number two (7 1/2- 1 1/2); Kyle Gauthier, at number three (6-3); Max Covitz, at number six (7-2); Sarah Chasse, at number seven (6-3) and Matt Cocozella, at number eight (9-0). Salem (2-1) plays Marblehead Thursday.North Andover 159, Lynnfield 100At North Andover, the young Pioneers had strong performances from Matt Muschella, Chris Lang, and Andrew Waisnor. Muschella scored a team-high 19 points. Lang chipped in with 18 points. Waisnor played very well, scoring 17 points. Lynnfield (0-2) looks for its first win of the year at home Thursday against Wilmington.
