Boys soccer: St. Mary’s can’t hold off Williams

The St. Mary’s boys soccer team found itself playing catch-up in a 2-1 loss to Archbishop Williams at Braintree.The Bishops led 1-0 at the half, but Julian Yourawski tied it up on a goal 10 minutes into the second half (Jeremy Tranfaglia assist). Archbishop Williams broke the stalemate with what would be the winning goal with 20 minutes left in the game.”They capitalized on us coming out flat in the first half,” St. Mary’s coach Mike D’Agostino said.Revere 0, Malden Catholic 0At Malden, Alfonso Rosales was spectacular between the pipes for Revere (1-0-1) with 14 saves.”The two halves were two completely different games,” Revere coach Nik Tower said. “In the first half (Malden Catholic) really took it to us. But (Rosales) kept us in the game. In the second half we started to pick it up a little more. He (Rosales) really made some big saves for us.”St. John’s 1, Catholic Memorial 1At West Roxbury, Declan Robinson scored about 25 minutes into the game for the Eagles (0-1-1). Sean Mackinson and Jim O’Leary assisted on the play. Adam Colella turned away two shots in net.Hamilton-Wenham 1, Lynnfield 0At Lynnfield, the Patriots (1-1-1) controlled the flow of the game, putting excellent pressure on the Generals. However, they could not penetrate the net. The one goal came on Hamilton-Wenham’s lone shot of the game – a penalty shot.Medford 3, Saugus 0At Saugus, the Sachems (1-1) had a strong defensive performance led by Dom Duplisea, Larry Bolduc and Scott Meuse. Peter Polcari was in net.
