Two years ago on a Monday night, St. John’s Prep traveled to Everett Memorial Stadium as a decided underdog against top-ranked (at the time) Everett.By the time the night was over, the Eagles had upset the Crimson Tide, 20-7, to end Everett’s 28-game win streak and a stretch of 62 regular season games without a loss.On Saturday (2), the Eagles will look for history to repeat itself against the No. 3 ranked Crimson Tide.St. John’s comes in on a roll, sporting a 2-0 record after wins over Peabody and Central Catholic. The Eagles needed a fourth quarter comeback against the Raiders to get the win, as quarterback Tommy Gaudet continued to mature as a starter, rushing for two touchdowns and the winning 2-point conversion late. The Eagle defense also has been outstanding, shutting out Peabody and then holding Central’s star, Trae Musamarra, to just 57 yards on the day last week. This week, however, St. John’s will face its biggest test as it begins the iron portion of its schedule.Everett comes in at 1-0 after a 42-23 win over Leominster and possesses a boatload of talented players at the skill spots.Junior Jonathan DiBiaso, son of veteran head coach John DiBiaso, is in his third year as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback.
