SWAMPSCOTT – Police arrested a Nahant man on a myriad of charges after he allegedly broke into the home of his estranged girlfriend early Sunday morning.Leone Barletta, 22, 3 Ward Road, Nahant, has been charged with assault and battery domestic, assault and battery, felony breaking and entering in the nighttime, disorderly conduct on public conveyance and disturbing the peace.The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Sunday at a home on Middlesex Avenue, where Barletta’s estranged girlfriend resides.Detective Sgt. Tim Cassidy said Barletta allegedly broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend because he wanted to talk to her.”It appears he went to the residence to speak with his ex-girlfriend,” Cassidy said. “He broke a window and gained access to the home. They had an argument and she yelled at him to get out. He fled the scene before officers arrived.”Cassidy said Barletta appeared to have been drinking and the victim did not require medical treatment.”She was shaken,” he said. “But she was not injured.”Police arrested Barletta in the vicinity of 40 Hampden Lane.”He was apprehended by Officer Brendan Reen a short distance from the residence,” he said.Calls to Barletta were not returned on Monday.District Attorney Spokesman Steve O’Connell said due to a backlog in Lynn District Court, arraignment information for Barletta would not be available until today.
