MARBLEHEAD – The new Transfer Station Building Oversight Committee spent its first meeting Tuesday night hearing how the proposed $22.2 million transfer station plan came to be.And eight members of the committee heard that they will have a new ninth member, local architect Dana Weeder, who told the Board of Health in his application letter he is familiar with the public bidding process. Weeder will take the place of accountant Elizabeth Genovese.The committee will evaluate and determine the design of the transfer station, with an eye toward cost and practicality, and must present recommendations in time for voter deliberation at next spring’s Town Meeting. The present design was defeated in a debt exclusion override in June.Other committee members include attorney Patrick Van der Voorn, who has experience with solid waste projects, Finance Committee member Matthew Herring, Recycling Committee member Jody Howard, Traffic and Safety Committee member Brian Hitchcock, large-project engineer Allen Waller and Board of Health member Todd Belf-Becker, who will serve as a voting member.Director of Public Health Wayne Attridge and Town Planner Becky Curran will serve as ex-officio members.
