Senior Kristen Verrette’s two goals provided the edge for Bishop Fenwick as the Crusaders tripped up Danvers, 2-1, Saturday in a meeting of two of the region’s premier sides.”It was a great game. Every time we play them we know it’s going to be a battle,” said Crusaders’ coach Karen Guillemette, whose club is now 6-1 heading into today’s game against Arlington Catholic. Danvers dipped 5-2-1.The game was played largely in the midfield area with the Crusaders generating no corner kicks while Danvers managed only four. Verette converted a give-and-go for a 1-0 lead at halftime, then doubled the Crusaders’ lead with a second-half breakaway. Danvers broke through with five minutes to play but was held in check the rest of the way.
