LYNN – A drug deal gone bad resulted in three people allegedly assaulted by a Lynn man wielding an ax Sunday afternoon on Huron Street.Kevin C. Szczawinski, 39, of 30 Huron St., #1, was charged with larceny from a person, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, ax, and domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, ax, according to police reports.He was arraigned Tuesday at Lynn District Court by Judge James Wexler, where he was ordered to post $200 cash bail and instructed to stay away from and not abuse the victim. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 22.Around 3:30 p.m., one of the victims arranged to meet Szczawinski at his home to purchase 1? grams of heroin for $130. When she arrived, Szczawinski allegedly told her that he was keeping the money because her boyfriend owed it to him and that she would be leaving empty handed. When she pleaded with Szczawinski to give some of the money back, he allegedly grabbed an ax, raised it over her head and yelled for her to leave his house.Saying she was frightened, the victim quickly got on her bike, rode back to her house on Lewis Street and told her brother and boyfriend what happened. The three then ventured over to Szczawinski?s home to confront him, but when Szczawinski opened the door, he allegedly again threatened the trio with an ax and chased both men down the street with it.At that point, police were notified and when an officer arrived on scene, a resident of the home allowed him to search it. While checking out different rooms in an attempt to locate Szczawinski, the officer said he found several steak knives in the suspect?s bedroom, along with him hiding in a closet, according to police reports.As he was being taken into custody, Szczawinski denied owning an ax or having threatened the group with an ax, saying he instead used a broom handle to scare them off.
