Lynn will receive $1.3 million in state money from the the Massachusetts Seaport Advisory Council to help the commuter ferry project move forward, city officials said today. The money, which is expected to be paid out in July 2011, will be applied to Phase 2 of the Lynn ferry, which relates to reconstruction of a stone bulkhead adjacent to the Blossom Street boat ramp, according to Lynn Economic Development and Industrial Corp. Executive Director James Cowdell.State Sen. Thomas McGee said the ferry project, once completed, will expand waterfront accessibility for the community. The state agency awarded Lynn additional money in 2007 for the ferry to demolish an existing building and pave the site for parking.
