LYNN – U.S. Sen. John Kerry, along with U.S. Rep. John F. Tierney announced last week that eight community health centers across Massachusetts – including the Lynn Community Health Center – will receive $43,473,505 to expand access to quality, affordable health care. This is the latest round of funding delivered to Massachusetts as part of the new national health reform law.Lynn Community Health Center received $6.9 million while North Shore Community Health Center in Salem received $750,000 from the new health reform law.?I am pleased that the Lynn Community Health Center and the North Shore Community Health Center in Salem are among those health centers in Massachusetts that received funding through the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act to renovate and expand their facilities,” said Tierney in a press release.The new national health reform law provides $11 billion in federal funding over the next five years. The investment expands the number of health-care center sites nationally from 7,500 to 15,000 and increases the number of patients served from 19 million today to 40 million in 2015.Today in Massachusetts, 52 community health centers provide high quality health care to almost 800,000 residents through 285 sites statewide.
