SWAMPSCOTT – Police arrested a Salem woman and charged her with three counts of assault and battery on a police officer and one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Monday after she allegedly assaulted a police officer.Tanya R. Vialpando, 34, 11 East Collins St., Salem was arrested in Vinnin Square on Monday at 2:38 a.m.Officer Thomas Hennessey was patrolling the Vinnin Square area when he noticed a taxicab stopped in a travel lane near Borders Books, according to Detective Sgt. Tim Cassidy.”He noticed the taxicab had been sitting there a few minutes,” Cassidy said. “He observed a female passenger, who was upset and crying. He asked her to step out of the cab so he could make sure she was alright. She appeared to be extremely intoxicated.”Vialpando told police she had been at some clubs in Lynn and was trying to find her way home.”Sgt. Joseph Kable arrived on the scene,” Cassidy said. “The officers were trying to determine where she lived and find her a place to stay because she was so intoxicated. While the officers were talking to her she became enraged.”Cassidy said Vialpando lunged at Hennessey and was subsequently placed under arrest.”She kneed Hennessey in the groin area when he was putting her in the cruiser,” he said. “She was brought to the station for booking and was very combative there. She punched Hennessey and kicked him with a shod foot.”Cassidy said when Vialpando was released later the same day, she was very apologetic. In July 2008, Vialpando was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery. At the time of that arrest, she told police she resided at 40 Holten St., Peabody.
