Soccer: Defense dominates as Peabody, Fenwick girls tie

It was a defensive gem Saturday as host Bishop Fenwick tied Peabody, 0-0.Becca Graves made five saves for Fenwick (10-1-2); Breanna Griffin and Caitlin Lodi split time in net for Peabody (11-0-1).”I wouldn’t consider it a dent (in the record),” Peabody coach Dennis Desroches said. “Fenwick and Peabody, the last three years we’ve tied. It’s a huge rivalry. The kids know each other. They pick themselves up. Both teams played a great game (Saturday).”Bishop Fenwick is not to be taken lightly. They have one loss, to Masco, who is undefeated. They’re for real. They play a strong schedule and are a very solid team.”Fenwick coach Karen Guillemette saluted her back three, saying it was the best game she’s seen from Maura Doyle, Alicia Villette and Gina Vellucci.”We just tried to minimize the amount of times (Peabody star) Hayley Dowd touched the ball,” Guillemette said.BOYS SOCCERSt. John’s 1, MC 0At Danvers, Phil Goudie scored for The Prep (8-2-2, 4-0-2 Catholic Conference) off a Joe Centofanti assist. Adam Colella made three saves for the Eagles’ seventh shutout. The Prep has only given up six goals this season to date.
